Writer's Block Exercise 04I miss Diane…I sat on a table inside our school’s cafeteria kitchen, staring at the vast expanse of tile and metal before me. Glancing at the door for the fifteenth time, I wait a few seconds for someone to miraculously come and unlock it. Fat chance of that, since school ended five hours ago. Tired of staring at a door handle that would never turn, I sifted through my backpack and fished out a worn-out copy of Catcher in the Rye. Holding it like a mother would hold a child, I skimmed through the pages, my eyes boring holes in the empty spaces between the lines, not really taking in a single word.
